Beattie could return for Swansea this weekend

Craig Beattie is two months ahead of schedule in his injury comeback – and could return for Swansea this weekend.

The Scotland striker was expected to be out for up to three months following an ankle injury.

But his rehabilitation has gone well, and Beattie played 45 minutes and scored for Swansea in a 3-0 friendly win at Welsh Premier outfit Llanelli.

Now the ex-Celtic and West Brom hitman could boost boss Brendan Rodgers’ options for Swansea’s trip to Norwich City on Saturday.

Beattie, 27, said: “I was told I’d be out for 10-12 weeks, but I’ve managed to get back in four. It was good to get 45 minutes and a goal as well.”
