Gareth Bale is set to make a shock return for Tottenham’s clash against Chelsea at White Hart Lane.
The Wales winger sprained his ankle in training on Friday morning and missed Sunday’s win over Sunderland as a result.
Fears have been growing that the injury could rule the Wales winger out of the chance to pile the pressure on Blues boss Andre Villas- Boas.
Spurs chief Harry Redknapp revealed at the weekend that although Bale initially felt the injury was not too serious, he was unable to put any weight on it.
But the player is understood to be winning his fight to play with Spurs ready to give up on 22-year-old as long as possible before to prove his fitness.
Thursday’s showdown represents an opportunity for Spurs to go five points clear of their London rivals with a game in hand.
The north Londoners are also expected to be further boosted by the return of in-form Jermain Defoe after a minor hamstring injury ruled him out over the weekend.
Defoe has hit nine goals in 19 appearances this season, with goals in four of his last seven games.
