Harry Redknapp wants to defy doctor’s orders and return to the Spurs dug-out within a fortnight.
Tottenham assistant manager Joe Jordan felt yesterday’s thrilling 3-1 win at Fulham would have been a “good tester” for the 64-year-old following his heart surgery last week.
And Redknapp, who watched the game from hishome having been ordered to take a month off, insisted he will be back at the club after the international break.
“The doctor is telling me I shouldn’t even think about returning for at least four to five weeks,” he said. “I hope to be back before then.
“After this weekend we have a break for international matches anyway. After that I’ll be back at Tottenham and back on the training pitch.
“This isn’t going to stop me doing the job I love. I can assure everyone I’m doing OK.”
A Chris Baird own goal and an Aaron Lennon special put Spurs two-nil up at the break. But another own goal, by Younes Kaboul, set up a nervy finish before Jermain Defoe sealed it.
Jordan admitted: “We had to hang on in there.
“It was a good tester for Harry, that last half-hour. If he passes that, which I’m sure he will, he’ll be back early.”
