Harry Redknapp is anxious to carry on “nursing” Ledley King fit for weekend Premier League matches so he can help continue Spurs’ brilliant form.
Tottenham are up to third in the top-flight after nine wins and a draw in their last 10 League games.
Captain and centre-back King has played in nine of those fixtures, each one on either a Saturday, a Sunday or a Monday.
But the 31-year-old England international still cannot train or play during the week because of his chronic knee problems.
Spurs boss Redknapp, whose side host PAOK Salonika in the Europa League on Wednesday, said: “Friday morning will be the first time I see Ledley.
“He won’t train at all.
“The medical staff will nurse his knee to get him back in shape ready to play the next week.
"It’s amazing really how he can do that. It just shows you how good he is.
“He would have been one of the best centre-halves in the world if he hadn’t had these injuries for so many years.
“He’s an amazing player. He can’t do too much. I don’t know if he can swim even!
“He just takes it easy all week and we then hopefully wheel him out again on the Saturday.”
