Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is ready to win the race for Plymouth's highly-rated young defender Jamie Richards and sign him as a full-time professional.
The giant centre back has sparked attention with his displays for Argyle's youth teams and is set to move to the Premier League.
Manchester United have also been watching Richards, but his family are from the London area and he seems set to choose Spurs to continue his football education.
Richards, who has yet to commit his future to Argyle, would cost Spurs a compensation fee of around £500,000 but rising over appearances.
