Tom Hanks reveals wish to watch Villa this season

The jury might still be out in Birmingham but Alex McLeish appears to have at least one confirmed fan: Hollywood A-lister Tom Hanks.

The Toy Story star came out as an Aston Villa fan in 2008, claiming he liked the club's old world-style name.

"I'm big on Aston Villa because the name is so sweet, it sounds like a lovely spa," he said at the time.

And now Hanks has written to the Villans' California supporters' club, claiming he wants to see a game this season.

"If luck stays with me, I will catch a match this season," he said.
