Martin O'Neill is ready to battle Arsenal in the £10million scramble to sign Hugo Rodallega.
Villa boss O’Neill has targeted the Wigan Athletic striker – after his failed bid to beat rivals Birmingham City to the signing of Serbian striker Nicola Zigic.
O’Neill is desperate to land a new hitman at Villa Park – with doubts over the long-term futures of Emile Heskey and John Carew.
Carew is wanted by Fiorentina and is about to enter the final year of his contract, while Heskey is on Stoke’ shopping list. And O’Neill is now ready to battle Arsene Wenger for Rodallega who claims he has already received an offer from Arsenal.
