Jeremy Menez, wanted by Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal, is almost certainly on his way to the Premier League after Roma’s notorious Ultras targeted his car in a terrifying attack.
The unsettled midfielder had a furious bust-up with coach Vincenzo Montella after Roma lost the first leg of the Italian Cup semi-final 1-0 at home to Inter.
But after the match the French star’s car was hit with stones and rocks thrown by Ultras in two incidents. Menez was uninjured but was left “shocked and shaken”.
Club insiders say Menez will now “almost certainly” leave this summer – a year before his contract expires.
He signed a four-year deal with Roma in 2008 and is expected to cost around £10million should he move.
Earlier this year, Menez said: “My departure is possible. In order to do well I have to feel people have confidence in me and that I’m important for the club.”
