Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is in talks with AC Milan officials over bringing Dutch striker Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar to White Hart Lane in a season-long loan deal.
The deal will include the option to buy at the end of the spell, with the sum of £12 million thought to be the asking price.
Tottenham will be in a much stronger position to seal a deal after their Champions League progression on Wednesday night.
Despite only signing the player last summer, AC Milan are thought to be willing to offload the Huntelaar in order to make room for Barcelona's Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Harry Redknapp is known to be a huge admirer of the Huntelaar, and Tottenham are thought to be leading the chase for the player ahead of German side Schalke 04.
The arrival of the Dutch ace is likely to signal a departure for either Robbie Keane or Roman Pavlyuchenko, both of whom have been linked with moves this summer.
