Arsenal sign Copa America striker

Arsenal have pulled a transfer surprise by snapping up young Costa Rica striker Joel Campbell from Deportivo Saprissa.

The 19-year-old scored against Bolivia in the tournament and will cost around £1million.

But Arsenal are set to face a battle to secure a work permit for their new signing, as he has not played in 75 per cent of his country's recent matches.

That could mean he will have to go on loan before heading to the Emirates.

Campbell is expected to play for Costa Rica in this month's World Under-20 Championship in Colombia before his immediate future is sorted.
