Villa star completes move to Birmingham

Birmingham have completed the £3million signing of Aston Villa midfielder Craig Gardner subject to a medical.

The deal almost stalled as City originally wanted to pay Villa three instalments of £1m.

But McLeish ordered City’s hierarchy to do the deal urgently as he rates Gardner highly.
