Portuguese giants Benfica are considering an offer from Manchester City for their star defender David Luiz according to reports.
The Brazilian youngster is being courted by Roberto Mancini to provide competition to Kolo Toure and new signing Jerome Boateng. The youth-international excelled at the heart of the Benfica defence last term and has been strongly linked with Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich.
Club president Luis Felipe Vieira conceded that he would have to sell the player who is seeking pastures new with a team of the European elite.
If the Eastlands club gets their way, Luiz will be City's fourth summer signing following David Silva, Jerome Boateng and Yaya Toure/
Luiz would be the second big name out of Benfica, following the departure of Angel Di Maria to Real Madrid in what is proving to be a mass exodus from the Portuguese club.
