Blackpool and Sunderland are competing for Manchester United’s teenage striker Danny Welbeck after 'Pool manager Ian Holloway admitted he was desperate to make a signing.
Welbeck, 19, spent six months on loan at Preston last season after breaking into Sir Alex Ferguson’s first team squad at Old Trafford.
United are keen for Welbeck, 19, to gain more experience on loan and Holloway is anxious to make him the first of NINE intended signings between now and the closing of the transfer window.
Holloway said:"We have lost the goals we had last season because DJ Campbell and Stephen Dobbie have gone back to their clubs so we need replacements urgently.
"Ideally I want someone with Premier League experience who can come straight in and do a job.’’
