Bolton boss Owen Coyle has made a new £2.5 million bid for Real Madrid left-back Marcos Alonso – and wants him to sign this week.
Coyle increased his offer for Alonso to head-off Benfica and the 19-year-old has told Real he would prefer a Premier League move.
The Wanderers chief does not want to pay any more for the prospect, who made his La Liga debut as a sub last year but is still relatively untried.
Bolton will lose out on his Real team-mate Rodrigo Moreno, who wants to make the move to Benfica because his dad is Brazilian and they both speak Portuguese.
Coyle has already landed Martin Petrov and Robbie Blake but stresses he would like to sign young blood. He said: “I will be looking at the younger players who can take us forward.”
