Burnley bid £1.5m for Wednesday keeper

Burnley boss Brian Laws has tabled a £1.5million offer for Sheffield Wednesday keeper Lee Grant.
And the cash-strapped Owls are considering letting the former England under-21 international reunite with ex-Hillsborough chief Laws at Turf Moor.
Wednesday, burdened by a £26m debt, are tempted by the Clarets bid because it would see them rake in a massive profit on a player they picked up on a free from Derby three years ago.
Grant’s agent Gino Culbertson said:”We have had it confirmed officially by Wednesday that there has been a bid for Lee. And, like any other player, he wants to play at the highest possible level.”
The relegated Yorkshire outfit’s chief executive Nick Parker admitted: “My standing instructions are that any offers for players will be taken to the board.”
Laws has switched his sights on Grant after failing to land Newcastle’s promising young Fraser Forster on a season-long loan deal.
Grant, currently battling to be fit for the start of the new campaign after undergoing summer surgery on a shoulder problem, was recently linked with moves to West Brom and Celtic.
