Burnley hope to be given the green light to tie up a £1million deal for Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp today.
Sharp, 24, is also being tracked by Leeds United and Doncaster Rovers, where he had a successful loan stint last season.
But the relegated Clarets have lodged the highest bid and, having given Sharp the weekend to think the move over, they hope to tie a deal up this week.
Clarets boss Brian Laws worked with Sharp at Scunthorpe and has money to spend to replace striker Steven Fletcher who was sold to Wolves for £6.5m.
