Everton are lining up a £4million bid for Sporting Lisbon winger Marat Izmailov.
The 27-year-old Russia international wants to quit Lisbon following a bust-up with Sporting coach Paulo Sergio.
And Everton hope to land the speedy ex-Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder for less than half the £10m fee that Manchester City were quoted.
Izmailov made a big impact on Everton boss David Moyes during Sporting’s convincing win over his team in the Europa League last season. He has had a long-term knee injury and is currently not training with the Portuguese club.
But the problem is not expected to stop him passing a medical at Goodison Park if the two clubs can agree a fee.
