Mellor to reunite with Irvine at Wednesday

Neil Mellor linking up again with his former Preston boss Alan Irvine at Sheffield Wednesday.

Mirrorsport revealed on April 29 that Mellor, 27, Richard Chaplow, 25, and Chris Sedgwick, 30, were being axed by new Preston chief Darren Ferguson in a shake-up.

Midfielder Sedgwick has already moved to the relegated Owls and now former trainee Liverpool striker Mellor is being farmed out to the League One club on a season-long loan.

Mellor joined Preston in August 2006 and worked under Irvine during his spell in charge at Deepdale from November 2007-December 2009.
