Tamas set to seal permanent West Brom deal

West Bromwich Albion manager Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed the club have negotiated an option to sign on-loan Auxerre central defender Gabriel Tamas on a permanent basis.

Romanian international Tamas, 26, joined Albion in January and has since played a key role in their promotion push.

Albion can sign him for £800,000 and Di Matteo said: “We have an option.

“We will sit down with his agent towards the end of the season and see what we can do.”
