David Beckham has been told it’s now or never if he wants to join Spurs on loan for the next nine weeks.
The former England captain has said he wants to sign until the MLS season restarts in mid-March, but Spurs boss Harry Redknapp says he will have to move fast.
Starting at Everton on Wednesday, Spurs have 11 games between now and March 11, when Beckham needs to be back in the US. But LA Galaxy have yet to say whether they will let Beckham go on loan again, having seen him suffer a serious Achilles injury while at AC Milan last year.
“I haven’t spoken to anyone about it for a couple of days because it is in the hands of [club secretary] Darren Eales and the chairman,” said Redknapp.
“It can’t go on too long because otherwise it would be a waste of time. By the time David comes here, settles in, and then he is only here for five or six weeks – it’s a waste, isn’t it?”
“It’s dragged on a bit and they [LA Galaxy] might not let him go. It’s 50-50. We need to know, really.”
