Roberto Mancini is believed to have swooped to take Rubin Kazan full-back Cristian Ansaldi to Manchester City.
The Argentina international has been impressive in the Champions League as the Russian outfit have proved to be one of the competition's surprise packages.
Ansaldi, 23, has yet to agree terms with City but the two clubs are believed to have agreed a £4.5million fee.
Ansaldi joined Rubin from South American side Newell's Old Boys two years ago. He has been a key figure in the side's push for two consecutive domestic titles.
