Manchester United have put £22million-rated Benfica full-back Fabio Coentrao on their hit list – should they lose Patrice Evra in the summer.
United fear their French left-back wants a move abroad, with Real Madrid ready to land him.
Portugal defender Coentrao joins Newcastle’s Spanish star Jose Enrique and Celtic’s Honduran wing-back Emilio Izaguirre as a potential replacement.
United scouts have told manager Sir Alex Ferguson that Coentrao, 22, would be an excellent alternative to Evra.
