Coventry City boss Aidy Boothroyd expects to complete a deal to sign Marlon King this week after revealing the move is “inevitable.”
Former Wigan striker King, 30, who has been looking for a new club since leaving prison in July, has been training with Coventry for the last two weeks.
Coventry had hoped the move would be completed last week but Boothroyd said: “It is something that is inevitable. We are sorting some things out.”
Boothroyd, who had King under his control at Watford, added: “He looks very, very sharp and he will get goals.
“When he came to Watford he was hungry and had a point to prove and that’s the Marlon King that we have got here now. He is ready and wants to sign.
“There are no problems, it is just a very delicate situation.
“The club have been as professional as they possibly can be in making sure we have covered all bases – that we make sure everything is right for the player, the club and everyone concerned with it.”
