Middlesbrough are to sign Sunderland flop Matthew Kilgallon on a year-long loan – at the second attempt.

Boro boss Gordon Strachan had doubts about his fitness and a dispute over the ‘rental’ fee.

But he is now set to take the 26-year-old former Leeds defender.
