Sven Goran Eriksson is giving Aston Villa outcast Curtis Davies a chance to rekindle his career by taking the star to Leicester.
New Foxes boss Eriksson is poised to sign Villa centre-back Davies, 25, on a month’s loan today.
The stopper is set to train with his new team-mates today after a medical and should make his debut at home to Hull tomorrow.
The move to Championship City will give Davies the first team football he craves after becoming frustrated at Villa Park.
Villa paid West Brom £8.5million for the one-time England prospect in July 2008 after a successful loan.
But he has not started a Premier League game since last August and accused former boss Martin O’Neill for favouritism.
Successor Gerard Houllier likes Davies but he is behind Richard Dunne, James Collins and Carlos Cuellar in the pecking order. Villa also have promising youngster Ciaran Clark in their squad to act as back-up.
Davies will become former England manager Eriksson’s second signing at City after getting full-back Kyle Naughton on loan from Spurs.
Villa are initially sending Davies on loan for 28 days but he could extend it and may leave the club permanently in January.
Davies has been unhappy at Villa for a year after O’Neill refused to give him a new contract.
