Newcastle are out to land Leroy Fer from Feyenoord in a £3 million deal.
The 20-year-old central midfield man is nicknamed "The Bouncer" in Holland because of his powerful physique.
Fer made his debut for Feyenoord at 17 and has played for his country at all levels, making his full debut as a substitute in Ukraine last week.
Everton scouts have also been putting Fer under scrutiny.
But Newcastle are favourites to get his signature and Chris Hughton has made an opening bid.
