Darren Ferguson wants his dad Sir Alex do him a favour and sell Preston Matty James in the summer.
Manchester United midfielder James has been outstanding in the middle of the park for North End since arriving on loan last month.
And now Ferguson wants the 18-year-old on his books permanently at Deepdale.
Ferguson said: "Bringing Matty back is a conversation I'll have to have with my old man.
"I would be keen on bringing him here full-stop but I'll have to see how he fits into their plans.
"He's only a kid but I've been really impressed with him. Matty has taken to how we want to do things here straight away."
