Liverpool legend Ian St John has branded Javier Mascherano “a dog”.
Mascherano has joined Barcelona in an £18million deal after forcing through his departure from Anfield by refusing to play for the Reds in the 3-0 defeat at Manchester City on Monday.
Now St John has claimed Mascherano will not be missed on Merseyside.
St John said: “Mascherano has never been my favourite player. He always had a scowl on his face.
“I didn’t enjoy watching him. He was a little dog, getting in there, biting and winning tackles, not the pleasant side of the game.”
Kop boss Roy Hodgson has moved quickly to replace Mascherano.
Liverpool are close to sealing a £10.7million deal for Porto’s Raul Meireles, 27.
