Tony Pulis is ready to smash Stoke's transfer record again - with a £9m swoop for Wigan striker Hugo Rodallega.
Potters boss Pulis has launched a bid to team up Colombia international Rodallega with new signing Kenwyne Jones.
Stoke have money to burn this summer and have already paid out £8m to bring in Jones from Sunderland.
And now Pulis will step up his ambitious move to land Rodallega ahead of Arsenal and Sunderland, after Jones' injury at Wolves on Saturday.
Rodallega, 25, was a Stoke target in January but Wigan scared them off with a whopping £15m price tag.
But the Latics are prepared to sell their star striker after recruiting Mauro Boselli from Estudiantes.
Pulis is desperate to improve Stoke's firepower after his side only managed 34 Premier League goals last term.
He said: `We want to get four or five more players in. If the deal isn't right for us we won't do it.
`We need goals in our team and we also need strong competition among our strikers if we are to continue improving at this level.'
Pulis is convinced that Jones" arrival at the Britannia Stadium will enhance Stoke's pulling power as they bid to pull off another major signing.
