Habib Beye has escaped punishment from Martin O’Neill after admitting he wants to quit Aston Villa.
Senegalese right-back Beye, 32, is desperate to leave Villa Park after just five League starts for the club.
Beye, who earns a whopping £40,000-a-week after joining from Newcastle last summer for £2million, voiced his frustrations earlier this month.
Villa boss O’Neill has fined players before for speaking out of turn and even suspended Patrik Berger in May 2008.
But O’Neill said: “This might be Habib’s longest spell outside somebody’s first team and things like that you have to cope with.”
Sunderland and Fulham are interested in Beye, with O’Neill set to sell several fringe players this summer after the club posted a £43.7m loss for 2008-09.
