Manchester City have agreed a £17million deal for Lazio left-back Aleksander Kolarov.
The Serbia World Cup star is City boss Roberto Mancini's fourth signing of the close season and takes his summer spending to £77m.
Kolarov, who has signed a four-year deal worth £80,000-a-week, will replace Wayne Bridge, who has failed to convince Mancini.
The City boss is expected to continue his spending spree, with Wolfsburg's £30m-rated striker Edin Dzeko his next anticipated capture.
Maninci has already bought Yaya Toure, David Silva and Jerome Boateng, as he aims to assemble a squad capable of winning the title.
England goalkeeper Joe Hart has cut short a holiday following his involvement in the World Cup, to join up with City squad on their pre-season tour of the US.
Hart, who has just returned from a season-long loan at Birmingham, is desperate to start the season as City's No.1 ahead of Shay Given, who is recovering from a shoulder injury.
