Video: Liverpool is the perfect club for me, says new signing Albert Riera

Spanish winger Albert Riera has revealed why he chose to sign for Liverpool before the summer transfer window closed last weekend.

Speaking at his first official press conference, the former Espanyol player said:

"The history of this club, the Champions League, my team-mates, the supporters, Anfield and of course the boss make this the perfect club for me now."

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez referenced Riera's unremarkable loan spell at Manchester City during the 2005/06 season, saying that not only would the experience help the player settle in second time around, but also that he was now a much improved player.

"He now has experience of playing for the national team and in a UEFA Cup final. He's a better player since he was here last."
