Wayne Rooney accused of stamping by Aalborg player Kasper Risgard

Wayne Rooney faces a UEFA ban after being accused of stamping on Aalborg's Kasper Risgard.

Risgard claims Rooney left stud marks on his chest and says referee Laurent Duhamel was too scared to send him off.

Duhamel took no action and Aalborg are calling for UEFA to view the video evidence of the incident from the first half at Old Trafford.

"I can see the marks on my chest - big marks," said Risgard. "He was jumping on my chest - I don't know why, but he was a little bit frustrated.

"The ref didn't say anything and I'm not sure he even saw it.

Anywhere else but here and it would have been a red card. I think referees are frightened to punish players here, especially players of the stature of Rooney."

Aalborg caretaker coach Allan Kuhn said: "I think he did stand on one of my players, but I'm not 100 per cent certain.

"I know the Champions League people will take care of it, if they get the media, so we don't have to worry about it."

Rooney also clashed with Michael Jakobsen and Thomas Augustinussen and tried to play down the flash points.

"I thought the ref did OK tonight," he said. "There were a few little incidents, but it's a physical game."

Sir Alex Ferguson claimed he never saw Rooney's alleged stamp and accused Aalborg of trying to wind up the striker.

"I didn't see that stamp at all," said the United manager. "I think there was a bit of winding up going on and they were not short on the tackles either."
