West Brom in swoop for Bolton's Abdoulaye Meite

West Bromwich are in talks with Bolton to sign Ivory Coast international defender Abdoulaye Meite - though the two clubs are far apart in their valuation of the 28-year-old.
Albion have had an initial bid of £1m rejected by Bolton, who want £3m for the former Marseille defender, who has also attracted interest from Hull City.
Albion manager Tony Mowbray has made strengthening his defence a priority as the club prepare for their return to the Premier League.
He has already signed keeper Scott Carson, right-back Gianni Zuiverloon and left-back Marek Cech this summer.
