West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo is lining up a £1.5m bid for Sheffield United striker Jamie Ward.

Di Matteo is ready to make a string of signings in the New Year and will target Ward, 23, for a move to the Hawthorns.

Former Aston Villa trainee Ward was a £300,000 buy from Chesterfield for the Blades in January.
