Doncaster want West Bromwich reject Bartosz Slusarski to solve their goal-scoring crisis.
Sean O'Driscoll, boss of the Championship strugglers, is hoping to hijack the Polish international's loan move to Sheffield Wednesday.
Slusarski, 26, joined the Baggies in 2007 but has made just one substitute appearance.
Desperate O'Driscoll said: "It may be we bring someone in just for the sake of it. It's not the best thing but it is another face."
