West Ham director of football Nani under pressure after signings fail to impress

West Ham director of football Gianluca Nani is coming under pressure within the club to justify his signings.
The Hammer have plunged into the bottom three and face a massive task tomorrow against League leaders Chelsea - who will be boosted by the return of in-form Didier Drogba.
By contrast West Ham are struggling to score goals up front with Alessandro Diamanti and Savio - both Nanni signings - bitter disappointments.
Although Zola goes into Sunday's match under increasing pressure, there is a growing belief that that pressure is misplaces and that the spotlight should be shone on Nanni.
Savio, 20, failed to settle at West Ham, making just one start and failing to score in any of his ten appearances. He was sold to Fiorentina earlier this year after just six months.
Although 26-year-old Diamanti has scored three goals in 11 League appearances this season, he - like Savio - is also viewed as being too lightweight to replace the injured Carlton Cole.
Cole is sidelined with knee ligament damage after hitting seven goals in seven League appearances this season.
West Ham are actively seeking support for the England marksman with the likes of Stoke marksman James Beattie under consideration.
But it is understood that Zola is more and more minded to trust his own judgement rather than that of Nanni.
Chilean winger Luis Jimenez, 25, is seen as an attractive player but, like Nanni's other signings, is not seen as a player suited to a relegation battle.
