West Ham's Nigel Quashie is off to Birmingham

West Ham United midfielder Nigel Quashie is ready to make a loan move to Birmingham after the international break.

Quashie, 30, has spent almost a month training with the Blues to prove his fitness having missed last season with a foot injury.

Manager Alex McLeish said: "We will try to do something after the international break.

"We have had him on a fitness programme because he has been out of the game for a long time, and he has looked good.

"He is on the verge of being able to play at the top again."
