Wigan fine midfielder Lee Cattermole after police issue nightclub warning

Wigan boss Steve Bruce has fined skipper Lee Cattermole and told him to stay out of trouble - and away from his native North East.
Bruce put the England Under-21 midfielder on the carpet after the player was given a warning by the police for a nightclub incident near his old Middlesbrough home. The Latics chief will keep Cattermole as captain against Everton on Monday but has ordered him to avoid future bother.
Bruce said: "We have dealt with it. It was not ideal and I think the boy has learned a lesson. I know the town where it happened very well and there are certain areas you stay away from.
"You've got to live your life, but you have also not got to let yourself get into those situations. He came out of the North East because it's a goldfish bowl and he can't get into that position again.
"Lee will be lighter in the pocket for it - he might not be able to afford to go out for a beer next time," added Bruce. "He has been terrific for us and I gave him the armband because I think there is a captain in him.
"He needs to lead by example on the pitch - but he didn't lead by example off it."
