Wigan's Maynor Figueroa scores from inside own half against Stoke

Wigan's Honduran left back Maynor Figueroa scored the goal of the season so far in Saturday's early game at Stoke.
The international was two yards inside his own half when Stoke's Rory Delap fouled him on 72 minutes. He immediately placed the ball and hammered a truly spectacular shot over the retreating Thomas Sorenson and into the top right-hand corner of the Stoke net.
The lack of backlift and Figueroa's brilliant inspiration made his long-range dazzler arguably even better than the famous 1996 lob against Wimbledon with which David Beckham announced himself on the Premier League stage.
It is sure to be a contender for the BBC's Goal Of The Season competition in May.
Figueroa's goal made it 2-1 to Wigan but after Ryan Shawcross' equaliser Sorenson had the last laugh with a penalty save.
