Wigan to sign Middlesbrough's Lee Cattermole

Wigan boss Steve Bruce is set for a major double boost today - by signing Middlesbrough's Lee Cattermole and agreeing a new contract with Paul Scharner to stay.

Cattermole was sorting out personal terms last night ahead of a £3.5m switch - first revealed by Football Spy on July 12 - as Bruce brings in new legs and bite.

Scharner's deal will earn him £6m over three years - despite interest from Aston Villa and Sunderland.

Striker Marlon King is also back after his move to Hull collapsed when Wigan refused to pay him off.
