Wigan boss Steve Bruce hopes that Honduras' World Cup success will help him to land target Hendry Thomas.
Bruce failed to sign the midfielder in the last window but is trying to buy him again for the New Year - with the Latin American nation's recent results a boost.
Thomas failed to get in through a lack of caps but these should increase with Honduras winning their qualifying group and lining up more big internationals.
