William Gallas is victim of UK's hatred of France, says former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit

Former Arsenal and Chelsea star Emmanuel Petit has waded into the ongoing Arsenal crisis by hysterically claiming that the British media has victimised William Gallas because he is French.

Speaking in French newspaper L'Equipe, he said:

"The gutter press in England are doing their job well.

"They're only too happy to hit out at French players, as I know myself.

"Look at other French players such as Eric Cantona, too. They've done it before.

"They tried to push out William Gallas for a year. Why? That's what I'd like to know."

And there was us thinking that this whole sorry fiasco was a result of claims Gallas himself made in his new book...
