Wolves leading chase for Blackburn striker

Wolves are leading the chase to take striker Jason Roberts from Blackburn.
Boss Mick McCarthy has turned to the experience of the 31-year-old, who has played in every division in England, after being knocked back by Stoke’s James Beattie.
McCarthy is ready with a £1million bid for Roberts after Ewood Park boss Sam Allardyce decided to listen to offers for the Granada international to raise cash to freshen his squad.
Newcastle and Middlesbrough have also asked about taking him on loan, but Roberts wants a permanent move.
And Wolves, where Sylvain Ebanks-Blake and Chris Iwelumo have both struggled to give Premier League support to Kevin Doyle, would be an ideal destination for a player whose chances have been limited since the £6m signing of Nikola Kalinic.
