Wolves star Marcus Hahnemann is desperate to keep the club up - as it will automatically earn him a new contract.
US shot-stopper Hahnemann, 37, joined promoted Wolves on a one-year deal last summer when he left Reading on a free.
And the veteran keeper has a clause in his Molineux deal earning him a 12-month extension if Wolves avoid relegation.
Wolves face Midlands rivals Aston Villa this weekend after beating Burnley to boost their survival hopes.
And Hahnemann said: “I’d love to be here next season.
“I want to stay, and the club are hoping to keep me here, so hopefully everything will be done soon.
“I’ve spoken to the manager on a number of occasions about staying and we’re both singing from the same hymn sheet, so I can’t see there being too much of a problem when it comes to thrashing out a new deal.”
Hahnemann says Wolves are confident ahead of their trip to Villa Park this weekend.
He added: “The outcome at Burnley was the most important thing and gives us a huge lift going into the final furlongs of the season.”
