David James new favourite to start for England against Algeria

David James is thought to have won his battle to regain England's No 1 spot from blunder keeper Robert Green.

Coach Fabio Capello has yet to officially revel his starting line-up for tonight's crunch Group C clash with Algeria in Cape Town but word filtering back from the England camp is that he will start with the 39 year-old James.

Robert Green's place in the first XI has been under pressure ever since he allowed Clint Dempsey's tame long-range effort to squirm out of his hand during England's opening 1-1 draw against USA.

It was thought that Capello would stick with the West Ham stopper but the Italian would appear to have had a late change of heart.
