Diego Forlan was handed the captaincy for Uruguay after defender Diego Lugano failed to make a full recovery from a knee injury for tonight's World Cup semi-final against Holland.
The former Manchester United striker was aiming to continue his form during a staggering year that has seen him land the Europa League with Atletico Madrid at the expense of Fulham.
The South Americans started as underdogs, given Holland have recorded a 100% record in South Africa so far and had Arjen Robben, Dirk Kuyt and Robin van Persie to call on.
