Why Capello shouldn't be sacked and De Gea is still de liberty for United

Fabio Capello should not be sacked as England boss just because he disagrees with the FA's decision to strip John Terry of the captaincy.

Like many people, he appears to feel the principle that a man is innocent until proven guilty overrides everything.

A bit of consistency would be nice, though.

Two years ago, when Terry was alleged to have had an affair with the ex -girlfriend of an ex -teammate, Capello could hardly wait to rip the armband off him.

Analyse that.

David De Gea made a magnificent save from Juan Mata in the dying moments of Manchester United's 3-3 draw with Chelsea on Sunday that preserved a point for the champions.

He made other fine stops, too, and could not reasonably be blamed for any of Chelsea's goals.

But it is an unavoidable fact that while De Gea may well go on to be a fine keeper for United, he is too often a source of uncertainty for them at the moment.

Put it this way.

If United had Joe Hart in goal, they'd be top of the table now and even though I'm still backing them to overhaul Manchester City, De Gea's vulnerability is putting a doubt in my mind.

My top five goalkeepers so far this season, by the way, are Hart, Michel Vorm, Tim Krul, Pepe Reina and Brad Friedel.
