Top 10 things we learned from Holland 0-1 Spain

So Spain have finally got their hands on the World Cup after beating Holland in extra time. But, asks Steve Anglesey, what did we learn from the final?

1) The result started a massive party in Spain. They're calling it the Iniesta fiesta.

2) The first half was all brooding tension with the implicit threat of violence. So much so that Gazza turned up with some chicken and a six-pack.

3) And after a tumultuous week, is there something about wearing orange shirts that makes men violent?

4) Though maybe we shouldn't be surprised that the Dutch turned out to be a bunch of cloggers.

5) At least one person enjoyed the brutality. MirrorFootball columnist Robbie Savage tweeted: "Great game people smashing each other wow wish I was playing who needs the ball Lol I'd go and nail robben! Lovein it"! Second-best Tweet of the night was Betfair's before extra time: "This must be the least anticipated half an hour on BBC since they used to show Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps."

6) In retrospect, letting Nigel De Jong watch Kung Fu Panda on the team bus may have been a mistake

7) After a shocking first half, Paul The Octopus was said to be choosing between sleeping pills and cyanide

8) Poor ITV. After the One Show, Adrian Chiles was starring in the One Viewer Show.

9) Well done Howard Webb. The last Englishman to produce so many cards on Sunday night TV was Paul Daniels.

10) Fabio Capello should give pitch invader Jimmy Jump a cap. It's the only way England are going to get their hands on the trophy.
