What are the odds Arsenal are Gunner finish in the top four? Derek McGovern's Bets of the Day

North London was even easier to pillage over the weekend than it was three weeks ago.

Victim of looting during the riots, on Sunday the pride of north London played like Luton.

Shipping eight goals at Old Trafford is bad enough. But what should cause Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger more concern is the fact that Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is now being nice to him.

You can’t blame Wenger for Arsenal’s current crisis. Nobody could have predicted the Gunners would struggle after he sold his best players to teams who were intent on winning things.

I’d 8-2 be an Arsenal fan right now.

In their six trophy-less seasons, Arsenal have been lauded while Liverpool have been largely laughed at. Yet the Mersey men have three times in that spell finished higher.

Wenger says he won’t quit but Hills still have him as short as 6-4 not to see out the season. That’s a great bet – he doesn’t see anything.

He said he will buy only players who can improve his squad. The whole of League One is on standby.

Arsenal are 6-4 to finish in the top four – if they do, I’ll give you the money myself.

Beyonce has announced that she’s pregnant which means there’s a beautiful baby on the way – unless of course the father is Jay-Z.

He’s the husband so is hot favourite to be dad but it could just as easily be Destiny’s child.

Beyonce’s big news presents a huge challenge to the American rapper – you try rhyming something with pregnant.

The only reason he went out with Beyonce in the first place is that she rhymes with fiance.

But then who can be bothered thinking up rhymes when you’re sleeping with Beyonce?

Women crave all kinds of things when they are pregnant but apparently the only thing that my mother craved was not to be pregnant.

Beyonce is currently 6-1 with Hills to have a record at No.1 in the charts when the baby is born.

Hills reacted quickly to the Usain Bolt sensation by offering 5-2 that the rules governing false starts are changed by next year’s Olympics.

In fact they reacted so quickly they were disqualified.

Bolt’s KO took the shine off the World Championship 100metres in Daegu, South Korea – but in offering those false-start odds Hills are jumping the gun.

These rules have stood the test of time – the usual time being sub-10 seconds – unless a Brit is in the field.

And surely, they are not going to change just because Bolt blew it.

Change the rules? That’ll be the Daegu.

Asked about the possibility of the rule being changed, an IAAF spokesman said: “Don’t you start.”

In Bolt’s absence, Yohan Blake took gold, Walter Dix took silver, and Kim Collins took bronze. Bolt merely took umbrage.

Ladbrokes immediately offered 14-1 for Bolt to repeat his false start in the 200metres. That really took the biscuit.

I reckon they should put the athletes in traps and then lift the lid to let them loose, as they do for greyhounds.

But I’d replace the hare with a big bottle of nandrolone served up on an electric tray.

BET OF THE DAY

I was pretty stupid as a kid. In fact, I didn't realise I was 12 until I was 14.

Get on Andreas Haider-Maurer at 5-4 to beat Sergei Bubka in the US Open tennis.
